Server Size

Factors that need to be considered when determining the server size:

  1. Number of plugins – more plugins need more computing power.
  2. Type of website:
    • E-commerce site (selling stuff directly) needs much more power than normal site.
    • Multilingual site (WPML or other solution) needs much more power than simple one language site.
  3. Heavy plugins – plugins such as Visual Builder, WPML, woocommerce and other demanding code need higher specs of server.
  4. Extra Functionality:
    • Scheduled events – scheduled events need extra power so they are being run correctly.
    • Exports – if site is actively exporting data to 3rd party this needs to be considered in size of server.
    • Imports – if site is importing data from 3rd party, this needs to be considered in size of server.
  5. Disk space: minimal disk size is 2x of site size for production and 4x size of size for staging server.
  6. Number of hits per month – this affects directly the ability of server to serve requests to all visitors.
